Organizers: Shu Yamaguchi (University of Tokyo), Manfred Martin (RWTH Aachen), Ilia Valov (Peter Grünberg Institut-1), Joshua Yang (University of Massachusetts, Amherst).

The symposium focuses on the fundamentals and applications of solid state ionics materials for memristors and resistive switches. All of these devices utilize the ion migration and redox reactions in compounds, which include sulfides, oxides, and even polymers or bio-materials. The present symposium will cover all the aspect of emerging memristive devices from very fundamental mechanistic study, operational properties, simulations, stack design, to practical applications. Not only semiconductor device alternatives such as CMOS, but also the application for bio-systems, ionic actuators, selectors and synaptic switches for brain computing are all welcome as far as redox processes and ion migration is discussed as fundamental mechanism for the operation.

Abstracts are solicited in, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas:

In this Symposium are also welcome those contributions which cover the topics beyond the above-described areas. This is done to provide the audience with a comprehensive description of Solid State Ionics. If your contribution is difficult to host within the above areas, please do not hesitate to contact directly the Conference Chairmen at ssi21@dii.unipd.it for advice.
