VICENZA AND COLLE DI BUGANO WINERY

Departure by G.T. coach from the conference site (Padova Fiere) at 14.30, arrival in Vicenza in approximately 45 minutes, guided walking tour through the historical center and its Palladian monuments. Visit of the Olympic Theatre, designed by the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and not completed until after his death by his son.

At the end of the visit departure by coach from Vicenza at 16.30, arrival at Colle di Bugano winery in Longare and guided visit of the medieval cellars with wine tasting of typical wines from the Berici Hills.

End of the tour and departure for Padova at 18.00.

Wednesday 21 June

EXCURSION TO VENICE WITH TYPICAL DINNER ON BOARD WHILE CRUISING THE LAGOON

Departure by G.T. coach from the conference site (Padova Fiere) at 13.00, arrival at the Fusina Terminal in Venice where participants will board the motorboat that will take them to the Venetian Lagoon, cruising down the Giudecca Canal.

 

After passing in front of St. Mark's Square, the cruise will continue heading to the island of Burano, where the famous brightly-colored houses of fishermen are huddled around its unmistakable crooked bell tower.

 

 

Short stop at the island of Murano, famous for its glassblowing kilns.

 

 

The trip continues to the Torcello island with the visit of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. The basilica church is a notable example of Venetian-Byzantine architecture, one of the most ancient religious edifices in the Veneto.

On the way back from Torcello to St. Mark’s Square, a typical Venetian dinner will be served on board.

Arrival at St. Mark’s square around 21.00 where participants will have some free time. Return by boat to Fusina terminal at around 22.30 and by GT coach to Padua by midnight.

VERONA AND THE WINES OF DANTE ALIGHIERI'S PROGENY

Departure by G.T. coach from the conference site (Padova Fiere) at 14.00, arrival in Verona at 15.00, guided walking tour through the historical center and its monuments: Piazza Bra with the famous Arena, Piazza dei Signori, Piazza delle Erbe and Juliet's house.

Departure by G.T. coach from Verona at 17.00, arrival at Possessioni Serego Alighieri in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, at 17.30. Guided tour and wine tasting.

Dante Alighieri spent several years of his exile in Verona. His son, Pietro, came to love the beauty of the city and its countryside, and so decided to remain in the area, purchasing the estate (possessione) in the heart of the historic Valpolicella region in 1353. Twenty-one generations later, both the house and estate still belong to Dante's direct descendants, Count Serego Alighieri. Today, the Villa stands surrounded by Valpolicella vineyards, the centre of traditional farming activities associated with a large and flourishing estate.
