Grants for Students and Postdocs

Grants are available:

1. to waive the registration fee; or
2. to cover part of the travel expenditures of Students and Postdocs.

The grants are intended:

1. to recognize promising Students and Postdocs; and
2. to reduce the financial burden of the recipient, in order to ensure his/her attendance to SSI-21 to present an oral or a poster contribution.

To receive the grant, the recipient must attend SS-21 and give his/her oral or poster contribution. Limited funding is available, and will be assigned on a competitive basis.

The deadline for the submission of the grant application is Monday 27 March 2017.

Eligibility requirements:

• students or the postdoctoral fellows of institutes of higher education such as universities or colleges, or of any type of public research institution such as national laboratories or similar;
• authors or co-authors presenting oral or poster contribution at SSI-21.

To the grant application must be attached:

• the CV of the applicant;
• a support letter from the thesis or postdoc advisor.

The applications must be submitted to the Conference Chairmen at ssi21@dii.unipd.it.

Selection of grant recipients

Grant recipients are selected on the basis of their research accomplishments, the scientific relevance of the submitted Abstract and the support letter from the thesis/postdoc advisor. Priority will be given to students/postdocs that:

• carry out their research activities in less-developed countries;
• belong to recently established research groups.

The recipients shall be notified of the grant by the SSI-21 Chairman by 3 April 2017.
