The POST-GRADUATE COURSE in Science & Engineering of Materials and Nanostructures at the University of Padova (SIMN), offers a multidisciplinary environment (Chemistry, Physics and Engineering) where material science and technology of nanosystems are developed. Other requirements, including course work, written and oral examinations, seminars, and teaching, are intended to broaden the student's exposure to materials chemistry, materials science, solid state physics and engineering, and to aid in developing the essential skills of oral and written scientific communication. Scholarships are provided by
- the Italian Ministry of Education, of University and of Research (MIUR)
- the European Union (Horizon 2020)
- Cariparo Foundation
- Private enterprises

The SIMN course was started in 2005, resulting from the merge of the Doctoral Courses of Material Science and Material Engineering, both active since many years.  The SIMN course is strongly committed to excellence in education and research in Material Science& Engineering and in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. In the period ranging from 2005 to 2013, 78 PhD students, uniformly distributed among the active research groups of the departments of Chemical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy and Industrial Engineering were enrolled at SIMN.

Every academic year the Course, jointly with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), offers 4 scholarships to candidates from the People’s Republic of China. Additional openings are available for candidates from the PRC through standard yearly selection procedures, held by the University of Padova.
